EVISU was founded in Osaka Japan in the early 90s and is named after the Japanese God of prosperity, Ebisu. It began as a personal project, rather than a commercial venture, with only 14 pairs of jeans created a day. Each pair was lovingly hand-painted with the now famous seagull logo and this attention to detail and bespoke vibe still resonates with the now-successful label today. EVISU is responsible in part for recapturing the imagination of the detail-orientated Japanese style set and helped a revival of vintage denim.
