Former fashion publicist and dancer Mariah K Lyons is the founder of Astara, a shoewear brand that combines sustainably sourced stones with a technology that connects you physically to the planet. Mariah grew up in the mountains in Utah and moved to NY and then LA where she started working in fashion and getting trained in Reiki, Western Herbalism and Yoga. While working for a luxury shoe company she had the inspiration for a healing shoe line that became Astara. The brand’s shoes include sustainable crystals and stones which are cleansed and Reiki-charged with energy, and paired with a metal chip programmed to the 7.83 Hz frequency known as the Schumann Resonance, known as the heartbeat of the earth: a frequency that could help you feel calm, supported and grounded. Astara shoes are handcrafted locally in Los Angeles, and a portion of each purchase goes to grassroots nonprofits promoting conservation and sustainability.

CREATIVE VOICES

My work is about exploring the deep connection our mind/body/spirit has with nature and the cosmos. The earth is the most beautiful and complex intelligence that not only activates and attunes my work creatively, but also energetically and spiritually.

To me, spirituality is the awareness and understanding of the interconnection between all things in the quantum universe and to align oneself in harmonic resonance. When we remember that everything is connected, we start to pay closer attention to our thoughts, behaviors, actions and desires. And once the awareness is there, we can begin to create new patterns of behavior and action to support a higher vision. This awareness and subsequent action creates great change not only in the individual, but in the collective consciousness and world as large.
