Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana launched luxury Italian fashion house Dolce&Gabbana in 1982. Three years later, in 1985 they showed their first womenswear collection which was met with great acclaim. The pair were quickly recognised for their hugely popular geometric, monochromatic designs. Dolce&Gabbana soon became the go to brand for classic, timeless pieces with a provocative edge. They embrace femininity with their designs, making women feel powerful and seductive. The pair are perhaps best known for their ability to revitalize classic looks such as the pinstripe suit and corsets; leopard print and corseted mini dresses are also trademarks of the label. Dolce&Gabbana have since founded a more casual line, D&G, with the aim to set trends rather than follow them. This line sells everything from fragrances to their limited edition Motorola RAZR phones.
Recent Dolce&Gabbana collections have been less focused on trends and sex-appeal. Instead they have stripped the brand back to the essentials, making elegant, understated classics that are desired by women worldwide.
