This Summer we all wanted to be a #GanniGirl. The cult Danish label took over every Instagram feed as we all fell in love with the brand’s printed separates and dresses, with the Dainty Georgette range claiming a spot in the world’s hottest products list this quarter.
Since husband and wife duo Ditte Reffstrup, the label’s Creative Director, and Nicolaj Reffstrup, its CEO, took over the label in 2009 (it was founded by a Copenhagen gallerist nine years earlier), Ganni has steadily grown from an insider’s secret to a global phenomenon. Successfully debunking any notion that Scandinavian fashion only means minimalism, Ganni is known for nailing colorful, fun and sophisticated piece. In recent seasons, the brand’s striped sweaters, banana and cherry print T-shirts and cowboy boots have all been worn by fashion’s best dressed, quickly becoming street-style sellouts.
It’s not just the pieces themselves, or their sweet-spot pricing, that’s made Ganni so popular. The brand’s rise to mega-stardom – with more than 400 stockists around the world has been helped by a long list of high-profile fans. Ganni’s ruffle hem printed skirt is loved by a growing gang of global influencers - or #GanniGirls – like Camille Charriere, Lucy Williams, Pandora Sykes and Pernille Teisbaek.
Made from lightweight georgette for a fluid fit, it is available in fun florals, polka dots, checks and leopard. Adaptable too, the adjustable waist ties mean you can find the perfect fit, while the ankle-grazing length means this summer-staple will work well into fall too.
Danish brand Ganni shows at Copenhagen Fashion Week, which has grown exponentially over the past few seasons to now stand alongside the other fashion capitals, thanks to the growing success of powerful contemporary Scandi brands like Ganni, Cecilie Bahnsen and Stein Goya. Scandi influencers have long been style crushes, and season after season their street-style doesn’t disappoint. Paired with Ganni’s colorful wrap skirts this season were Havaianas, cowboy boots, tie-dyed blouses and lots and lots of shells. We loved stylist Emili Sindlev’s leopard-on-leopard pairing, Journalist's Stephanie Broek’s casual oversized T-shirt and dad sneaker combo and Jeanette Madsen’s slouchy jumper layering.
Available globally, you can purchase the Dainty wrap skirt at retailers including Net-a-Porter, Revolve, The Modist and Shopbop.
