Maison Martin Margiela's dresses are always so modern and feminine; from pieces cut with a full, softly pleated midi skirt to styles enhanced with elegant floral prints. The label enlivens its pieces with everything from flattering wrap fronts, to eye-catching details and nipped-in waists.
Expect floaty skirts, cinched-in waists, V-neckline and delicate ruffles. Wear yours with vibrant sandals or pared-back pumps, depending on the occasion.
Whether your garment is cotton or cotton-blend, there is the possibility that it may shrink if not properly cared for. We recommend hand or machine washing in cold water of 30°C or below. This will help avoid color fading and dye transfer. Gently stretch cotton to restore the original shape and air dry naturally.
Lace is a beautiful but delicate material, so it is best to check how to clean and care for it correctly in order to extend the life of your garment. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibers permanently if left untreated for too long. We advise hand washing your lace garment in warm water, unless specified on the item’s care label. Let the lace soak for roughly 30 minutes, before rinsing with water to wash away any remaining soap. Rinse well to remove soap, and then press gently to remove any excess water. Avoid rubbing the lace fabric, instead use a gentle plunging action to remove any dirt or stains. Lay the lace flat to dry, away from direct heat and sunlight. If you really need to clean lace in the washing machine, always place lace within a cotton wash bag and use a gentle and cool wash cycle.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. If your silk is not dry clean only, then it can be hand washed in lukewarm water with a delicate detergent. If you do decide to hand wash silk, always use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent in order to protect the silk’s natural properties. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you must wash in the machine, select a gentle, cold-water cycle, place in a laundry bag for additional protection and promptly remove from the washer to reduce any wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
