The Hunter Boots Sizing Guide
Not sure what size you need in Hunter boots? The brand’s boots are available in women’s UK sizing, and you can use the below chart to convert into your usual size.
For example, if you usually wear a women’s US size 7 or EU size 38, you should buy your Hunter boots in a size 5.
Most Hunter boots, including the Original Tall, fit true to size. For some styles, such as the Original Chelsea, it’s recommended to size up if you are in-between sizes or want to wear thick socks. The brand recommends taking a size down in the Original Play, as these are slightly large to size.
Hunter boots also come in a range of fits:
- Original Tall Boot: The brand’s standard fit boot sits comfortably under the knee and offers more room over the arch for thicker socks. It has a calf circumference of 38.6cm.
- The Refined Slim Boot: More fitted on the leg and foot than the Original Tall, the slim-fit boot has a calf circumference of 36cm.
- The New Original Wide Leg Boot: Hunter wide calf wellies have a 2.3cm wider calf circumference than the Original Tall.
- The Original Back Adjustable Boot: This style has an additional gusset that fully extends at the calf to a circumference of 40.1cm, for more flexibility and ease of movement. When fully extended, the calf circumference is 40.1cm.
- The Huntress Boot: Ideal for those with a shorter frame, the Huntress has a shorter leg height and a relaxed, wide leg fit.

How To Care For Your Hunter Boots
Without proper care, even the finest-quality rubber can become brittle. To keep your boots looking their best, wipe any excess dirts and debris off with a dry cloth. As only the finest natural rubber is used, a white powdery "bloom" may appear. Any patches of blooming can be removed by wiping down with a damp cloth, before leaving your boots to dry naturally away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources. To restore a clean shine, simply finish by rubbing on Hunter boot shine or apply olive oil on a clean cloth.
Avoid storing your boots when damp, folded or creased, and keep in a cool, dry location. Hunter recommends that boots are not exposed to solvents, oils and animal fats, as this can cause the rubber to swell and increase the risk of slipping.
- Are Hunter boots vegan?
Hunter has a commitment to using natural rubber, which means many of the brand’s are vegan. From the Original Tall, to the Original Short, Original Chelsea, Play and the Refined design, there are many eco-friendly styles that are certified as 100% vegan and therefore made without using any animal materials or animal by-products during the manufacturing process.
- Are Hunter boots environmentally sustainable?
Hunter began working with Long Trail Sustainability in 2017 to analyze the lifecycle of the brand’s iconic Original Tall boot. From the harvesting of natural rubber, right through to the end-of-life, the environmental impact is measured. More sustainable materials have been introduced, including recycled materials for the Stella McCartney collaboration.
- Are Hunter boots waterproof?
Yes. Hunter boots are all waterproof and designed to prevent moisture from entering, keeping feet dry whether you’re at a festival or walking city streets.
The brand only characterizes its products as waterproof once they have completed a series of highly controlled, industry-approved tests, to ensure they are guaranteed to perform in wet and windy weather conditions.
