Celebrating its 100th birthday back in 2011, the Italian label Fila has long been an institution within the fashion industry, its designs worn by top athletes and the fashion pack alike. Now a name synonymous with the retro fashion of the 80s and 90s, Fila's finding a whole new cord of loyal fans that continue to be heralded as one of the leading labels in sportswear. Make an instant statement in a pair of Fila sneakers. Coming in bold colors and pops of brights, these shoes are as applicable for life on the track as they are for city life.

The Fila Sneakers Buying Guide

The blue-and-red ‘F’ featured on Fila sneakers has become a street-style emblem. While the Italian sportswear brand’s chunky silhouettes have seen a resurgence in recent years, it’s been in the game for over 100 years. Fila made a name for itself in the 70s with its tennis wear collection, showcasing styles that can still be found in its clothing and accessories ranges today. From runners with spongy soles to low-tops that enhance an urban aesthetic, the collection encompases life on and off the track. Walk this way for activewear that blends street style with performance-enhancing technology, and use our Fila sneakers buying guide to help narrow down the styles and size that work best for you.

The Most Wanted Fila Sneakers

  • Fila Disruptor Sneakers

A throw-back essential, the Disruptor features a statement chunky shape complete with bold serrated outsole. The leatherette upper is accented with tonal stitching and perforations for a court-side feel. It’s finished with the iconic embroidered Fila logo.

  • Fila Provenance Sneakers

In a softer shape than the classic Disruptor, the Provenance sneaker is a little more subtle. The chunky shape still touches on the best of ‘90s fashion, while the suede upper adds elegance. Contrast laces and the embossed Fila logo on the outsole complete the look.

  • Fila Panache Sneakers

Touching on Fila’s tennis history, the Panache style is a classic court shoe. The simple silhouette is complete with heritage details like a round rubber toe cap and stitched uppers. Accents on the tongue and heel add colour, while the brand’s embroidered logo adds authority.

The Fila Sneakers Sizing Guide

Fila sneakers run true to size, so there’s no need to size up or down. You can use the chart below to find out how the brand’s US sizes correlate with other international sizes. For example, if you usually wear a women’s EU size 36, choose a US size 6 in your Fila sneakers.

If your measurements are in between those listed in the size chart, we recommend that you choose the larger size.

How To Care For Your Fila Sneakers

It’s easy to care for your Fila sneakers. You can clean them at home to keep them feeling and looking fresh. It’s not recommended that you put your shoes in the washing machine. This can damage the material of the upper and alter the shape of the sole.

To refresh your pair, use luke-warm water and a mild detergent and gently dab at affected areas with a soft washcloth. Suede styles can be cleaned using a suede brush. Use gentle, circular motions to prevent damaging the delicate fabric.

The soles of your sneakers can be cleaned using luke-warm water, mild detergent and a small brush. A toothbrush is ideal as this can get in between the cracks. Wash the outsole with a cloth too, or use a white eraser to get rid of scuffs and marks.

Laces and insoles can be washed in the washing machine. It’s helpful to place them in a pillowcase first. Always let your sneakers, laces and soles dry naturally, away from heat sources.

To prolong the life of your sneakers, you can treat them with a protective spray before their first wear. These sprays can be purchased from most shoe stores and create a layer over the leather upper, helping them stay weatherproof and stopping stains.

FAQ

Are Fila sneakers comfortable?

With over 100 years in the sports industry, Fila has perfected its performance and fashion styles to maximise comfort. Most styles feature an EVA foam midsole. This is lightweight and absorbs shock, whether you’re getting active or out for the day. Pieces like the Disruptor have flexible outsoles that move with you while you walk.

Are Fila sneakers good for running?

Fila creates shoes for both on and off the track. Styles like the Capture are made with performance-enhancing features like a DLS (Dynamic Landing System). This helps to soften the impact of running on hard terrain. Other styles like the Swerve are ultra-lightweight, with supportive insoles that flex to your feet. Pieces like the Disruptor are made with urban wear in mind and are the perfect after-training wardrobe accessory.

Are Fila sneakers machine washable?

It’s not recommended that you wash your Fila sneakers in the washing machine. Styles feature leather, suede or technical uppers, which can be damaged in the machine. Due to the heat, the rubber soles can also become altered. Laces and insoles can, however, be washed in the machine, in a pillowcase to protect them.
