As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. Generally, cotton should be hand or machine washed at 30°C or below. This will help avoid color fading and dye transfer. Allow to air dry naturally, and give garments a gentle stretch to restore shapes as soon as they come out of the wash.
Lace is a beautiful but delicate material, so it is best to check how to clean and care for it correctly in order to extend the life of your garment. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibers permanently if left untreated for too long. Handwashing is generally considered the safest way to treat lace, and it is recommended to submerge in a warm water and mild detergent mix. Let the lace soak for roughly 30 minutes, before rinsing with water to wash away any remaining soap. Rinse well, and press out excess water. Never wring or twist lace fabric. Lay flat and allow to dry naturally. It is advised to avoid using the washing machine to clean lace, but if it is required to remove tough stains, always use a gentle wash cycle and place in a laundry bag to protect against damage.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. Some silk products are labeled as strictly ‘Dry Clean Only’, while others have ‘Dry Clean’ as the recommended cleaning method but may also be hand washed or machine washed. If your silk is suitable for hand washing, use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent to help protect the silk’s natural properties. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you need to clean in the machine, first place in a laundry bag, select a delicate, cold-water cycle and remove promptly once the cycle has finished to reduce wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
