By 1909 the business stayed within the family and what emerged was the classic Pendleton wool style clothes that still exist today. Wool clothing was historically used for warmth, but the Kay descendents found ways to spruce it up with some style. By 1929 Pendleton was producing full lines of men’s virgin wool sportswear. A women’s line was introduced in 1949 and by 1972 non-wool products were introduced so Pendleton could be worn all year round. Today, the Pendleton lifestyle and home collections are still inspired by the American frontier and Native American designs, which are fused with rich colours on the renowned durable wool.
