Issey Miyake

He always manages to strike the balance between tradition and innovation, handcrafts and new technology, and the label pushes such boundaries to this day (though Miyake doesn’t officially design himself now, he still oversees every aspect of the company). From his innovative pleating construction began in the 1980s, to his current project to form clothes out of just one piece of thread, Miyake’s influence is unparalleled.
