With Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen as classmates on her fashion MA course at Central Saint Martins, Emma Cook soon matched her fellow protegees by launching her first collection upon graduating in 1999. Her work has been in the spotlight ever since, with her girlish yet fiercely independent styles striking a chord with her many fans - among them, Rihanna and Angelina Jolie. Her whimsical designs are often imbued with a hint of bizarre humor (from chintz accents to quirky animal prints) but it is in the attention to detail, with hand-crafted or hand-painted touches upon leathers, silk and even latex, through which Cook’s true design skill emerges.
