Second-hand fashion: Fashion searches that include words such as “vintage” and “second hand” have risen significantly since the start of September – they’re currently up 11% week-on-week. While demand for luxury brands in particular, e.g Chanel, Hermes, Celine, Burberry, remains popular when it comes to these searches, now shoppers are also looking for specific product categories. Demand for “vintage blazer”, “vintage top” and “pre-owned bag” has increased 48% collectively over the past 7 days.
Shackets: A week into September, fashion’s new year, and searches for “shackets” have spiked significantly week-on-week – they’re up 43%. “Denim”, “corduroy” and “oversized” are most commonly searched for while the most wanted color is khaki.
Cardigans: Demand for cardigans has increased by 54% since the beginning of the month. Terms such as “ribbed”, “chunky”, “cropped” and “colorblock” are trending right now with black and camel being the most wanted colors. Meanwhile searches for “long cardigan” in particular have risen 15% over the past week.
Tube tops: Whilst corset tops were already trending, with searches going up 28% month-on-month, tube tops are now having a moment as well. Following Katie Holmes’ most recent outfit, wearing Khaite’s Lucie ribbed stretch-knit top, searches for tube tops increased 20% this week. As expected, Khaite is the most searched-for brand with demand for its Lucie ribbed stretch-knit top rising 14% week-on-week.
Alternative wedding dresses: Searches for “short wedding dresses” and “short white dresses” have both seen an increase in recent months and are collectively up 25%. Demand for timeless slip dresses was high at the beginning of the year (64% quarter-on-quarter) and it has seen a resurgence in the last month – simple, delicate silhouettes from Raey, Asceno and Sir. The Label are the most wanted. Meanwhile, online searches for wedding dresses that include the words “vintage”, “second hand” or “pre-owned” are collectively up 38% year-on-year, averaging close to 20,000 searches a month.
