British shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood is fast becoming one of the hottest names in shoe design. With his sculptural heels, innovative shapes, distinctive material and vertiginous stilettos he has forged ahead as a true visionary. Kirkwood began his career working with milliner Philip Treacy, and by 2005 he had won the Condé Nast ‘Footwear Emerging Talent of the Year’. His refusal to design flat soled shoes as well as his love of glamour caught the attention of the fashion press and he was soon designing collections for Gareth Pugh, Chloe and most famously, Rodarte. Kirkwood’s main ambition is to build upon the silhouette of the shoe, focusing on integrating decorative embellishments into the structure. This season head to Nicholas Kirkwood for killer heels with strong, geometric lines.
