The house was primarily launched as a knitwear workshop where their trademark colourful, geometric prints were first created. In 1973, Missoni won the highly revered Neiman Marcus Award and consequently their notoriety grew and grew. In 1998 the brand was taken over by daughter Angela Missoni who continued expand their knitwear line whilst developing the label extensively with 25 smaller divisions including swimwear, menswear, accessories, fragrances and now even hotels. The Missoni aesthetic is natural, free-spirited and quirky; known mostly for their psychedelic colour schemes and striped knits. Angela Missoni continually injects new life into the collections whilst still delivering the brand’s signature vision. Recent collections have placed more focus on a craft driven tribal vibe as well as inspired accessories.
Angela Missoni has perhaps one of the most natural and practical approaches to fashion. She has seamlessly reworked the brand making it more accessible to today’s customers.
