Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo launched his eponymous label in 1914. He started out creating shoes for many early Hollywood celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn; Ferragamo even created the infamous red Wizard of Oz heels. He became famed for his unique, unconventional designs including the cage boot and wedge heel. After Ferragamo’s death in 1960 his widow took over to develop the company launching ready-to-wear lines, eye-wear and bags; making it a multi-faceted luxury goods company. In 2008 Cristina Ortiz took over as creative director of this renowned Italian brand.

Ortiz has gained mixed reviews from some of her first collections as she drew away from the traditional Ferragamo aesthetic. However recent shows have been met with great acclaim as she is creating a new brand vision, placing more focus on the innovate ready-to-wear lines.
