Italian fashion house Fendi was launched in 1925 in Rome, it was predominantly a leather and fur house but now produces numerous luxury goods including womenswear, fragrances and handbags. In 1966, Karl Lagerfeld took over as Creative Director and the label soon gained worldwide recognition becoming an international fashion powerhouse. Lagerfeld launched Fendi’s ready-to-wear lines along with the infamous ‘double F’ logo. The brand is now perhaps best known for its logo-ed accessories, including ‘it-bags’ such as the ‘baguette’ and the ‘peekaboo’.
Under Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi has developed its sense of sophisticated glamour; recent collections have showed a distinctly feminine silhouette with capes, furs and sleek separates.▼
