From denim styles that have been washed, faded and subtly distressed for an authentic look, to supple leather versions with zip fastenings, Lyle Scott creates jackets you'll be able to wear for years to come. Whether you’re looking for a denim jacket that’s been washed for an authentic feel, or an enduring closet staple like a leather biker jacket, the brand’s collection has you covered.
With a focus on fit, craftsmanship and quality, Lyle Scott makes its jackets from materials like leather, cotton, denim and wool. Whether for casualwear or smarter occasions, slip yours on smoothly over T-shirts and sweaters.
High-quality pieces that are made from leather require a little care and maintenance to keep them looking their best. In-between professional cleans, you can maintain the leather by removing any excess dirt first and then work a specialist leather cleaner in with a soft cloth. Nothing can completely prevent scratches, scuffs and damage to leather, but a good leather protector will help. A specialist leather wax and cream can be applied to bring back shine when needed.
Before attempting to clean cotton, we would advise always checking the label to ensure no specific care instructions are required. Cotton can sometimes be prone to shrinking when it is washed and dried, and to prevent this happening it is recommended to use water that is 30°C or below, either by hand or in the washing machine. This will help avoid color fading and dye transfer. Before allowing to air dry naturally, cotton can be gently stretched when they come out of the wash to restore shape.
To maintain the quality of your denim, turn your jackets inside out before washing and use a mild detergent. It is worth noting that before denim is washed, the dye from your indigo pieces may rub off on light-colored fabric, leather and upholstery. To make color last longer, wash inside out with cold water, with like colors. Denim should not be left in direct sunlight, as this can cause discoloration. Do not dry your denim in the tumble dryer, instead hang up and allow to air dry naturally.
We recommend checking the instructions on the care label before attempting to clean. Most wool is washable, with the main exception of structured pieces like suits, jackets and blazers, which are best spot cleaned. For wool that is suitable for washing, use a pH neutral detergent and select a gentle cycle on the machine with a temperature of 30°C or less to mimic the actions of traditional hand washing. To minimize the risk of shrinkage, it is advised to soak in cold water before you put in the machine. Allow to dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sunlight. Hang structured wool, such as jackets and suits, to dry on hangers.
