Growing up in the laid-back city of Los Angeles, designer James Perse's childhood was split between the beach, the hockey rink and his father's innovative clothing boutique, Maxfield. It was his love of sport and disappointment at not being able to find a well designed baseball cap that lead James to begin his career in fashion. He began by creating a range of baseball caps for Maxfield in 1991, later launching his eponymous womenswear and menswear line in 1996 and 1998 respectively. Sourcing inspiration from the free spirits of the west coast, Perse's collection delivers low maintenance, luxury looks. From soft cotton styles to flannel shirts, a James Perse shirt is an essential closet staple. Add a jumper in the winter months and pair with a simple pair of chinos in the summer.
