Comme des Garcons view fashion as an opportunity to create modern art. Famous for their innovative use of shape and materials, Comme des Garçons creative director, Rei Kawakubo, is one of the most influential fashion designers of her generation. Comme des Garçons is French for "Like Boys" and although traditionally a Japanese fashion label, the brand is based in both Japan and France and usually shows at Paris Fashion Week every year. Since 2004, Comme des Garçons has developed a market-based department store concept, stocking its main collections, its other brands, such as Shirt, Play, and a wide range of international designers. Its original market store, called Dover Street Market, is in Mayfair in London. This collection of men's Comme des Garçons shirts features slim-fitting shapes in wearable whites, light blues and blacks, with quirky detailing such as contrast hems, quirky graphic motifs and the occasional flash of tartan or the label's signature black, white and navy stripes.
