Function and fashion are fused together in Louis Vuitton's collection of coats Whether you prefer simple and easy-to-wear options like the single-breasted overcoat, long coats that look equally good dressed up or down, or more casual options like a parka or duffle, you’ll find a style to suit in this collection.
Louis Vuitton's outerwear is generally built from materials such as wool, fur trims, cotton and lightweight synthetic blends, making it easier to survive low temperatures or rainy days in high style. For formal occasions, opt for one of Louis Vuitton's coats in black, navy or gray. Casualwear calls for styles such as the peacoat or duffle.
Before attempting to clean wool, we would always recommend checking the garment’s care label to ensure the cleaning method you plan to use will not cause shrinkage. Some wool pieces, such as a suit, blazer or coat, would benefit from spot cleaning. Generally, most wool is washable and will need to be turned inside out before being washed at temperatures of 30°C or less using a specialist wool detergent. To prevent shrinkage, it is advised to soak your garment in cold water before placing it in the machine. Never tumble dry wool, instead dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight. Ensure wool garments are clean before storing folded in a cool, dark place.
To prolong the original condition of your product, we recommend cleaning the leather with a dry soft cloth and specialist cleaner. A specialist leather cleaner can be used to remove stubborn stains from leather. Although a leather protector won't safeguard leather from all abrasions, creases, and scuff marks, it is an extra step to take to ensure the leather ages well. Use a waterproofing spray to protect against liquid stains, and apply specialist leather waxes and creams to bring back the shine when needed.
Cotton is one of the most popular fabrics, and there are many different types of cotton fabric. We suggest checking the care instructions for the specific item before washing. Generally, cotton should be hand or machine washed at 30°C or below. This will help avoid color fading and dye transfer. Gently stretch cotton to restore the original shape and air dry naturally.
Fur often requires special care to keep it looking its best. We recommend getting your fur garment cleaned annually by a dry cleaner that specializes in fur, and to avoid washing a real fur item at home. If the fur gets slightly wet; shake out to remove as much water as possible. Allow to dry in a well-ventilated room, away from any direct heat. Once dry, fluff the fur and smooth with your hand. Do not iron fur, as it may burn and cause irreparable damage.Instead, steam the fur to remove any bacteria, wrinkles and odor.Brush regularly with a cashmere brush, which will remove any lint and hair, as well as rejuvenating the fur’s natural oils. When storing your fur, it is recommended to keep it at a temperature of around 50°C with approximate 50% humidity. Store in a breathable cotton bag, on a broad-shouldered hanger and away from light.
