While studying textile design in her hometown of Mexico City, Gabriela Artigas started fashioning bracelets from vibrant toothbrushes repurposed cleverly as cuffs. She removed the bristles and molded the handles into bracelet, which admirers repeatedly brought off her wrists. Her success lead her to create a collection of jewelry which takes inspiration from all elements of the world around her. Her eponymous jewelry line was originally launched in 2003 and continues to experiment with a variety of eclectic materials. Her designs are handmade in Los Angeles or Mexico City, twisting materials in contemporary ways and unrestrained designs. The designer's collection of bracelets include cuffs detailed with freshwater pearls and delicate, whisper-thin gold chain bracelets juxtaposed with raw stones.
