When it comes to a fabrics like wool, it is important to care for it properly to keep it in good condition. We suggest checking the care label on each garment, as some will be dry clean only, and others hand wash or machine washable. The first step in taking proper care of wool garments is to always turn inside out before washing, which will help slow down any pilling or wear of the fabric. Most wool is washable, with the main exception of structured pieces like suits, jackets and blazers, which are best spot cleaned. Otherwise, most wool can be either hand washed, or washed in the machine on a gentle cycle of 30°C or less, using a mild PH neutral detergent and turned inside out first. Soak for up to half an hour, rinse well and press out any water without wringing. If you want to use the machine, make sure the item is turned inside out first, place in a mesh laundry bag and ensure a low-spin, cold-water cycle is selected. The heat from the tumble dryer can also shrink your garment, so it is best to lay wool flat and allow to air dry away from sunlight and radiators.
