We recommend checking the instructions on the care label before attempting to clean. Most wool is washable, with the main exception of structured pieces like suits, jackets and blazers, which are best spot cleaned. For wool that is suitable for washing, use a pH neutral detergent and select a gentle cycle on the machine with a temperature of 30°C or less to mimic the actions of traditional hand washing. To prevent shrinkage, it is advised to soak your garment in cold water before placing it in the machine. Never tumble dry wool, instead dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight. Ensure wool garments are clean before storing folded in a cool, dark place.
Before cleaning leather, we recommend removing any large pieces of dirt and dust by dry cleaning with a soft brush. Persistent stains can be removed with a specialist leather cleaner. Although a leather protector won't safeguard leather from all abrasions, creases, and scuff marks, it is an extra step to take to ensure the leather ages well. A specialist leather wax and cream can be applied to bring back shine when needed.
As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. This will help avoid color fading and dye transfer. Before allowing to air dry naturally, cotton can be gently stretched when they come out of the wash to restore shape.
As fur is an organic material, it will need extra attention to keep it looking its best and maximize its lifespan. We would recommend to dry clean fur at a professional fur cleaners, instead of washing. If the fur gets slightly wet; shake out to remove as much water as possible. Allow to dry in a well-ventilated room, away from any direct heat. Once dry, fluff the fur and smooth with your hand. Avoid ironing, as this can burn the fur, instead steam the fur to remove odor, wrinkles and bacteria. Brush regularly with a cashmere brush, which will remove any lint and hair, as well as rejuvenating the fur’s natural oils. It is recommended to store fur in a breathable cotton bag, away from light and at the correct temperature and humidity levels during warmer weather. It is advised to use a fur cold storage service to maximize longevity.
