I have had 5 pairs of these shoes over the last six years. All of them were great, until the v3 model came out. New Balance really cut some corners. The padding on the tounge and around the back of the heal is half of what it used to be. There is no longer adequate arch support. The pull tab has been made thinner, and the sole isn't near as supportive as it used to be. I have moved on to Nike Monarchs. What a world of difference. Same price for a much better quality shoe. No more New Balance for me, they have lost my business. These are the only brand my boyfriend will wear. He gets a new pair every year. I have always liked NB wide cross trainers. These are for normal everyday wear and gym use 3x per week. But the last three pairs have lasted less than 6 months. The soles have separated on 2 pair. The toe stitching failed and created a 2 inch hole on the most recent pair. New Balance has no answer and refuses to take any action unless the failure occurs within 90 days of purchase. It is unacceptable to me that a show lasts only 6 months with normal wear. Guess what? I am 70. How much "wearing out" can there be? This new pair was on sale - 40% off. It will be my last if it proves to be the the 4th in a series of failure. I have been wearing New Balance 623's for over 15 years now. They are AWESOME! I'm not impressed with the fancy and flashy (often neon colored) shoes being pumped out by the major shoe manufacturers. To be honest I've never been accused of being a trend setter with my fashion sense. The NB 623's are just straight up good shoes. My feet are slightly wider than average. Nike's tend to be more narrow so it's hard for me to find a pair I'm comfortable with. New Balance makes The current 623 version 3's are very similar to the two previous versions. I wear a black pair to work and my white colored pair at home. I am on about my 20th pair of New Balance 623. Sneakers. They are great in the gym and after about 6 months the get retired to street use. I M very happy with them. I had been wearing the 623 v 2 and wanted to replace a worn pair. The 623 v 3 does not provide as much support as the prior version and does not cushion my heel as well. I don't think this new version will last as long as my prior 623 v 2. I purchased these shoes since I work in the electrical field and I am up and down a ladder many times each day. I am very satisfied with them and they are very comfortable. Got these off line at Dick's. Not what I thought. Something you would find on someone much older then me and I'm 50.They look very cheap to me too. Had them on twice and crease has formed where they bend. I'm on my feet all day and they just don't cut it in my eyes. Love other New balance products but not these. I have ordered at least five other types from Dick's in the past few years and loved them. I'll try again with New balance just not this model.
