Granted he does have wide feet he also wears a size 15 which we did get the correct size and he practices and does tournaments in them 6 days a week, but the shoes busted and fell apart on the mat. They are cheap to me and they also need to consider the grown boys and men athletes who have wide feet when they make these shoes. By the way my son won the match and the 1st place all catholic title for his weight class before the shoes fell apart. Will never buy adidas again will stick to a better brand probably. Or just spend way more money. The size for these is not the same as your normal shoe size. I normally wear size 11-11.5. I had to buy these in size 10. They fit snugly and my foot doesn't move around in the shoe. The only thing that could be better is the friction. However this shouldn't be an issue, it has never affected my performance. Light construction and very light on my feet during my workouts. I've had these shoes since the beginning of wrestling season (November), and they are overall a great shoe, great traction, great feel. I've used them in intense wrestling workouts, wrestling matches and weight lifting. Only problem is that after my first 2 months with it, the top part of the sole of my right foot just a little bit. Which is fine. And when I first got them, when I ran my finger down the sole, little bits of rubber were on my finger. But after matches it's fine. I bought these wrestling shoes to use in my Rock Steady Boxing class. The cross trainers I was using previously allowed my feet to slip side to side during some of the drills. These shoes are light weight, reasonably priced and no slipping! The Adidas Men's HVC2 Wrestling Shoe is not so much how it improves on your father's wrestling shoe as hoew it recreates the feeling of contact, grip and release from the flat, inclined or uneven surface that we always expected in a shoe prime for wrestling, lifting, fitness and plain styling at home or out. The feather lightness doesn't give up top line stitching, materials, or style. I used to wrestle in upper school and lettered. I was quite comfortable on the mat and I can still fall safely, but at 69 years I still lift, but that's my main exercise. For reasons I'm sure we all know, I keep 7 pairs of various shoes for special weather and use needs. The HVC2 is my daily indoor and good weather shoe. I have no use for so-called orthopedic shoes that may be fine for others but not for my wants and needs. Obviously, know your size. These fit me as expccted. The excellent ankle support practically eliminates stress and burning in shin and calf muscles. As mentioned the grip is styled similarly to any of the Adidas shoes such as the Samba and what I expect from a non-marking sole required by gymnasium floors. The soles are suitable for outdoor dry surfaces. Plus they look good and I know they attract good looks. I love them they are very comfortable for training. My son's wrestling shoes from 2 years ago were giving out and we needed some in a pinch. We went to Dick's in Grafton and found these wrestling shoes that fit well and weren't going to give me a shock at the price. We took them home and my son likes them very much. Color: black
