The 5 Sneakers Everyone’s Been Buying This Year
“Ugly” dad sneakers, platform heels, embroideries… Whatever the style, the fashion world just can’t get enough of trainers; and with more than one million people shopping for a new pair every month, no one will be surprised to learn that sneakers are already the most popular item of 2019.
Together driving more than 17,000 online searches on Lyst in the past seven days alone, five big, colourful, comfortable, and instantly recognisable pairs of sneakers have been fighting for the top spot. Read on to see who made it to number one.
5. Balenciaga Speed Sneakers
If anyone knows how to do sneakers right, it’s Balenciaga. In the last month, the brand has been responsible for over 23,800 social impressions, and its Speed trainers (£525 / $770) were one of the most popular designs, having driven over 3,800 online searches.
4. Gucci Ace Embroidered Sneakers
The fourth place belongs to Gucci. With it’s instantly recognisable sneakers, the Italian house has been dominating the market for quite some time, being responsible for 28,400 social impressions in the past 30 days alone. The Ace embroidered sneakers (£450 / $650) — with their gold bee and snakeskin details — were searched for more than 2,500 times on Lyst in the past seven days.
3. Balenciaga Triple S Sneakers
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the beloved Balenciaga Triple S sneakers (£645 / $950) are third in the list. Described by some as the “ultimate ugly sneakers,” the chunky Triple S drove thousands of searches following their release, becoming a global best seller in 2018.
2. Gucci Flashtreck Sneakers
Love them or hate them, the multicoloured, crystal embroidered Gucci Flashtreck sneakers (£1,080 / $1,590) are the second most popular trainers of 2019 so far, driving more than 3,741 online searches in the last seven days.
1. Alexander McQueen Oversized Sneakers
With their clean look, oversized rubber sole, and discreet branding, the Alexander McQueen oversized sneakers (£360 / $575) have become the hottest trainers of the year. Over the past few weeks alone, online searches for the style have gone up 146.6%, and we’ll be keeping an eye out to see how long they remain in the top spot.
