“Ugly” dad sneakers, platform heels, embroideries… Whatever the style, the fashion world just can’t get enough of trainers; and with more than one million people shopping for a new pair every month, no one will be surprised to learn that sneakers are already the most popular item of 2019.

Together driving more than 17,000 online searches on Lyst in the past seven days alone, five big, colourful, comfortable, and instantly recognisable pairs of sneakers have been fighting for the top spot. Read on to see who made it to number one.

5. Balenciaga Speed Sneakers

If anyone knows how to do sneakers right, it’s Balenciaga. In the last month, the brand has been responsible for over 23,800 social impressions, and its Speed trainers (£525 / $770) were one of the most popular designs, having driven over 3,800 online searches.
