It all began on a trip to New York with underwear salesman Abbot Pederson who made the inebriated purchase of a stuffed penguin called Pete, whose tie-clad image became the symbol for the brand. Today, Penguin still specialises in easy-to-wear smart casuals in bright colour palettes and soft, pliable materials.
