Sometime in 1892, arriving in the Italian city of Bari, Nicola Somma was a talented merchant of knitwear undergarments. Instantly in love with the place, Somma opened a chain of stores specializing in the wholesale and retail of men's and women's knitwear and effectively sowing the seeds of an enterprise four generations strong. Production of the SVEVO line still takes place inside the Fidenza factory in Bari and the same attention to quality each garment requires at least 22 stages to transform the raw materials of cashmere, silk and merino wool into finished cardigans and sweaters.
