Squid Game: Having fast become Netflix’s most popular show, the South Korean survival series has got fashion shoppers searching on Lyst. Within days of its release, global searches for retro-inspired tracksuits (+97%), white slip-on sneakers (+145%), red boiler suits (+62%) and white numbered t-shirts (+35%) have all spiked. Vans are the most viewed slip-on sneakers over the past week, while demand for the color teal is up 130% week-on-week; no doubt the outfit of choice for Halloween.

Sparkly boots: Party-ready boots are here to stay. Over the past month, searches for boots including the keywords “glitter” and “sparkly” increased 83% collectively, whilst searches for silver boots are up 41% month-on-month. Meanwhile, following Hailey Bieber’s recent Instagram post featuring Saint Laurent’s newest rhinestone boots, online searches for similar pieces spiked 65% in less than 48hrs. Paris Texas, Victoria Beckham and Dear Frances are the most sought-after brands.

Rebellious fashion: Whether they’re inspired by subversive Rick Owens’s latest S/S 2022 collection, or the recent reopening of the infamous Berghain nightclub; fashion lovers have been feeling a little edgier lately. Searches for fishnet tops (+93%), chokers (+44%), platform boots (+19%) and leather coats (+10%) have all increased week-on-week. Meanwhile, demand for mismatched prints has spiked 18% over the past couple of weeks.

Fringes: Searches for fringed pieces have been growing recently, with a spike of 27% in the past two months. Shoppers are looking for fringed dresses and bags (from Loewe and Jacquemus), however fringed jackets saw the highest increase in demand this week, up 100%. Other Stories’ relaxed button-up fringed jacket, Palm Angels’ Arizona bomber and The Kooples’ fringed leather jacket are the most popular pieces in the category.
