Meghan Markle effect: Following Meghan Markle’s appearance wearing a white summer dress on Friday, searches for “white linen dresses” spiked 233% during the weekend. “Sam Edelman flats” quickly become a breakout search term while pageviews for Janessa Leone’s straw hats increased by 23% since Friday (with the Sammy hat currently sold out).
‘Going Out’ searches: As more people choose to go out, searches for “summer” and “party” dresses are growing, up 26% and 12% month-on-month respectively. Most popular styles include halterneck, open back and cut-out. Demand for heels has been increasing since the beginning of June and is currently up 10% month-on-month, with “sandal heels” being the most popular style and Amina Muaddi the most searched for brand. Meanwhile, searches for mini bags are rising again: up 18% week-on-week.
Animal print swimwear: Over the past 14 days, there has been a surge in demand for animal print swimwear – currently up 66%. Celebrity approved, “leopard print” as well as “zebra print” styles have been receiving the most views, with searches for “leopard print bikini” specifically rising 31% week-on-week. Top searched brands include: Reina Olga, Ganni and Hunza G.
Mules: This month searches for mules rose 16%. Whilst “clear” and “tan” remain popular terms among online shoppers, searches for pink mules went up 18% month-on-month.
