WARNING: California Proposition 65. California Proposition 65. Proposition 65 warning icon. Fabric Content: 100% nylon. Absolutely the best piece of clothing that I own. The fit is comfortable, loose fitting, with several deep pockets and durable construction. It has a built in belt and a wide elastic waistband that wont pinch too tightly. The stitching in key stress areas are reinforced and the impressive craftsmanship is noticed immediately with features like a metal grommet button instead of a plastic one held on by a few threads. The garment is also water-resistant and offers a measure of UV protection. As far as weight goes it feels lighter than a cotton t-shirt, wont absorb sweat or fluid, and air dries quicker than anything I've ever seen. I'm so happy that I plan on buying the pants version of these. And I plan on thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail with both. North Face, the new pocket design is a dog. I loved the old Paramount Cargo shorts, had 2 pairs and was looking to buy a third for this summer. Then you came up with this awful new design. I ended up finding last year's Paramount II model with the cargo pockets at Bass Pro Shops and bought a pair. You guys broke my heart! Very comfortable and true to size. There are some nice features. Elastic waist for some stretch and a has a built in belt. There are also belt loops too. These short have extra thigh pockets inside of traditional cargo pockets. The one on left side having a zipper and the right side a fold over method to secure pocket. Back pocket had a zipper. Pockets lined with mesh so they dry fast. Fabric also dries very fast. The side pockets are not the normal side opening, which allows items like money and keys to fall out when laying down or relaxing. These pockets are cut more like those in jeans more inline with belt. So far nothing has fallen out and more secure. The right pocket has two pockets in one opening. I like the look and feel of these shorts. I ordered the long size and I love them. I'm going to get some others colors too! I wish that I had stocked up on the previous version. They are the best shorts that I've ever owned. I guess that the zippered pockets on the current version keep stuff rom falling out but they are so tiny that not much can be carried in them. Last but not least, the left rear pocket has disappeared. This is a gift for my son who is an avid hiker and lives/teaches in south China. He is tall and most long shorts are nylon/gym types. Not top quality hiking gear. South China gets hot and humid and these shorts should be great for both casual wear and hiking. He should get these in the mail in a few weeks and if he likes them, ill give him another pair when comes home on vacation this summer. Hike the adirondack high peaks. I purchased the short hiking pants and the long/convertible hiking pants from NorthFace. They both fit perfectly - just following the instructions for their Small, Medium, Large scale. I wore the convertible pants on a trough 9 mile hike on Sunday and they were very comfortable. Pockets were easy access without getting in the way, the fabric was comfortable without sounding like plastic bags rubbing together when I walked - a softer fabric. I even loved how the pants can velcro at the cuff for a more buttoned up feeling. Love it. Recommend them. Excellent pair of shorts. I'm 6'2" 210 and the large/L fits me perfect! Love the built in belt feature and side pockets. Color: natural
