Alexander Wang has become famed for his ‘Normcore’ approach to fashion – taking an urban grunge-inspired design concept and making it temptingly accessible and ‘normal’ for a fashionable audience. Wang’s footwear collection includes a range of unconventional but reassuringly acceptable pieces for the man who adores a smooth edge in his style. Widely known for his biker boots with silver metallic finishes, Alexander Wang also delivers disheveled suede shoes, sharp buckled sandals and stylish sneakers.
- Wang won the 2008 Vogue Fashion Fund award.
- He is credited with the recent revival of Athliwear.
- A plain dresser himself, known for his ‘Model Off-Duty’ approach.
- Wang spent three years as creative director for Balenciaga.
- He received Fashion Group International’s ‘Fashion Star’ honor in 2013.
History of Mens Alexander Wang Shoes
Back in 2004, Alexander Wang ditched his studies at the Parson School of Design in New York to concentrate on launching his own fashion label which initially focused on knitwear collections. He launched his first full runway collection of womenswear in 2007 and made an early impression on the industry, picking up the Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2008, along with a $20,000 prize to help expand his label. With a famously low-key profile himself – he frequently wears basic plain t-shirts and jeans despite exhibiting a range of cutting-edge designs on the fashion runway – Alexander Wang has grown acclaim for designing urban-luxe collections, creating grunge-style pieces with an elegant heart. His collaboration with H&M in 2014 was perhaps a little too successful. Within minutes of his collaborative collections becoming available to order online, the demand proved so great that it caused the corporate giant’s website to crash! Wang has gone on to pick up a clutch of major awards in recognition of his innovative design work, including the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year and the GQ US Menswear Design of the Year.
