I went to Dick's to buy WARM gloves and WARM socks as I knew I'd be outside standing to watch a Christmas parade. I spent over 30 minutes trying to find the warmest gloves and socks possible that were affordable. I finally selected these gloves, although I couldn't find any rating for the warmth factor. I liked them because the outside has a nice soft, texture. However, they didn't even come close to keeping my hands warm. And what made this extra disappointing, I broke my practice of never paying full price for anything and handed over $35. plus tax. I purchased these gloves for a trip to Canada, as the SoCal girl in me is a wimp when it comes to cold weather. They definitely did the job and kept my hands warm even way up in the mountain peaks. The only drawback for me was that, while the palm area fit (width wise), the fingers were just too long for me. So this impeded the whole e-tips deal and I found myself having to take off the gloves to operate my phone. I used the measurements given on the size chart, but as it only had you measure the width, I didn't really know what to expect for the finger length. In hindsight, I'd probably order the XS next time, however, I do admit it's possible my fingers might be slightly shorter than your average person so you may be fine in this regard. Bought these after printing the size guide and determining I wore a size "Large", only to find that they are too big for me. Wore them one time when I ran to the grocery store and the temp was about 10 degrees. They were warm enough in my cold car and getting in/out. However, I think if I were outside for any length of time in these at those temps, the gloves wouldn't be warm enough. Passing them along to my daughter whose hands are larger than mine. She wears an extra large. Side note, the grips on the palm were very good in handling the steering wheel of my car. The special finger tips did allow me to use my IPHONE without removing the gloves. They are very soft and comfortable, good for chilly temperatures, but my fingers were freezing when using these in 20-30 degree weather. I use these gloves for driving in the car and shopping. They work well with touchscreen as well. I keep them in my purse and use them daily. They are soft, comfortable, and provide good dexterity. We live in Western NY where winters are cold and windy. They might be warm enough for cold weather running, but I don't think they would be adequate for backpacking or outdoor activities in most cold climates. If you plan to use them for outdoor activities below 30 degrees, not your best choice. I wear them while watching my kids take indoor skating lessons and they are great. I bought these over the summer & have finally had a chance to test them out. Sadly, I do not think they'll hold up against a Chicago winter. It's not even snowing right now & my fingers are freezing! The fit is awful as well, too much space around the finger tips. I probably would've been better off with some gloves from the dollar store. So disappointed. These would have been nice. They were soft and warm but came with hole's in each thumb!!! And I had to pay to ship them beak. I will go to dicks or somewhere else. I will never but direct online from North Face again.
