Vivienne Westwood
When iconoclast Vivienne Westwood launched her label in 1971 she was responsible for irrevocably shaking up the world of British fashion. Her punk-rock designs and orb style logo quickly became trademarks of the brand. Her reputation sky-rocketed when she and Malcolm McClaren of The Sex Pistols opened a London boutique showcasing their love of music and fashion. More recently her tough, bondage influenced designs have been replaced with a more romantic stance, featuring corsetry, tartans and her signature pirate boots. She has since launched diffusion label Anglomania, alongside her Red and Gold label designs. Often cited as the ‘great dame of fashion’ Westwood is easily one of Britain's most cherished designers, today her influence reigns as much as it did when she set out in the seventies.▼
