Trendy, luxurious and couture have remained staples of the Versace brand. Desiring to maintain its well-known attributes, the late Gianni Versace envisioned a sub-label where he can get his qualitative designs into the hands of the modern youth at an exceptionally affordable price. So after 11 years of fragrance, home décor and clothing success, he launched the Versus sub-label in 1989 aimed at the younger fashion enthusiasts. After his passing in 1997, his sister Donatella took over as creative director until 2009. The impressively quirky and renowned designer Christopher Kane took over afterwards debuting with a capsule collection. Today the stylishly unique inspirations of the main Versace lines are still embraced and molded into Versus as a solid fashion starting point for the contemporary youths.
