Sass And Bide
Sometimes an outsider’s perspective is all that’s needed to boost ingenuity, and so it goes for the Australian design duo behind Sass & Bide. Sara-Jane Clarke (Sass) and Heidi Middleton (Bide) were childhood friends in the outback growing up. They were working as an accountant and advertising art director before they decided to dive into fashion by launching their brand in 1999. Sass & Bide hit it big when they debuted their “East Village” jean for women. Beloved by hipsters, the jean was extremely low cut, made out of stretch denim and had a two-inch zipper. When the pair of jeans first came onto the scene there were queues around the block of Syndey stores to purchase a pair. Subsequently the label debuted on the fashion runways in 2002 and have been creating mainstream fashion ever since. Today you’ll find an assortment of outwear, knitwear, dresses and denim for the contemporary woman. ▼
