From ballet school to boutique window dressing, Thierry Mugler has dabbled in the creative style arts since his teenage years. He launched his first women’s line in 1973 and continued to go beyond boundaries being influenced from American cars of the 1970’s to film noir and even the world of insects. Thierry Mugler’s photographs have been published in books while he’s also directed music videos. In 1997 he launched his perfume collection and in 2003 he abandoned clothes to focus solely on perfumes. However, by 2010 Nicola Formichetti was named creative directed, changed the brand name to Mugler, focused back on clothes and launched the first men’s wear line in 2011. Today the focus of breaking boundaries continues with high tech fashion such as incorporating solar power garments for recharging phones and skin fitting material.
