Gucci is by far one of the most recognisable brands in the world, with its signature interlacing logo and green and red striped webbing. Launched in 1921 by founder Guccio Gucci, the company set out as a leather goods workshop producing much of what is still on sale today such as the bamboo handle handbag. In 1990 American designer Tom Ford became creative director, transforming the brand into the empire that it is today. Gucci promotes a glossy, seductive image; their clothes are figure hugging and slimline with a focus on bold colours and gold touches. Accessories designer Frida Giannini took over in 2006 and continues to convey the brand’s aesthetic with her own more mature taste.
Frida Giannini has successfully managed to develop and enhance the Gucci brand by maintaining the ethos of the brand in an understated way. Her designs are impeccably tailored, enhancing the female form in a subtle way.▼
