Emanuel Ungaro began designing for classic French fashion house Balenciaga before launching his own eponymous label in 1965. The brand has always been known for its ultra feminine designs which often feature frothy layers and delicate florals. A slew of fashion designers have taken over the creative helm from Ungaro’s initial successor but few have gained any sort of success at the label. In early 2010 it was announced that British wunderkind designer Giles Deacon was to be appointed creative director in order to breathe new life into the company. Deacon’s first collection was hailed as a success as he combined his own style of vivaciousness with the classic cuts of early Ungaro.
