Lyst is looking for a Front End Developer to build well-crafted interfaces for our website and emails, at our London headquarters. As a member of our engineering team, you’ll build responsive and elegant web UIs with AJAX and similar technologies, while maintaining a deep understanding of our entire application stack, and even pitch in on design work when it makes sense.
Our Shoreditch HQ is located within five minutes of no fewer than six of the finest flat white vendors in London. If the large, open, light, bike-friendly office isn't enough for you, head out to the larger of our two roof terraces, which is perfectly oriented for gazing over the City of London skyscrapers in order to appreciate how fortunate we are not to work there. Then pop back inside, via a kitchen stocked with fresh organic fruit we get delivered weekly, to attempt to make your way up the table tennis ladder.
Key Responsibilities
Build great user experiences using advanced HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Work closely with our Product Team to help design and prototype visually attractive and highly usable web interfaces.
Help with coding of backend applications and features when you can.
Work closely with the whole engineering team to ensure new features are shipped efficiently.
Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems.
Proactively look for ways to make Lyst better.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience).
Ability to create interfaces in HTML, CSS and JavaScript using best-practice concepts such as progressive enhancement
Solid understanding of the full web technology stack (e.g. HTTP, cookies, headers, asset loading / caching).
Experience building mobile-friendly websites (using media queries to achieve a fluid layout)
Knowledge of JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, Backbone.js, Underscore.js
Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance.
Understanding of CS concepts such as: common data structures and algorithms, profiling/optimization.
Familiarity and comfort in a dynamic start-up environment.
Passionate about user experience, ideally with design and usability skills.
Ideally knowledge of ecommerce and/or online fashion.
