Acne, which stands for ‘ambition to create novel expressions’, was launched in 1996 as a creative consultancy brand bridging the gap between arts, fashion, entertainment and technology. Shortly after, in 1997, creative director Jonny Johansson began to develop the company’s clothing line releasing a denim collection made up of 100 pairs of jeans.
